Although found in many areas of the world, the iconic gemstone Jade is synonymous with Asia. So it was entirely appropiate that when in 2009, plans were being formed to create an entity that would be the definitive resource of gaming technologies and information in the Philippines and beyond into the wider Asian continent, that the new entity should take the name Jade Entertainment and Gaming Technologies, Inc

The creation of its founder and CEO, international gaming industry veteran Joe Pisano, Jade Gaming is located in Manila's bustling central business district, Makati City, and has been rapidly building a solid reputation as a trusted provider of electronic gaming machines and other gaming technologies. Jade Gaming was appointed in 2010 as the exclusive representative of Austrian Gaming Industries GmbH in the Philippines.

An Australian citizen of Italian descent, Joe Pisano is a 30 years veteran of the gaming industry. Educate at the University of New South Wales and holding a Masters degree in Business and Technology he has previously helf senior positions with several top international gaming companies and amassed a wealth of technical and regulatory knowledge along the way. Accurately predicting in 2009 that the national elections scheduled in the Philippines for 2010 would bring about a paradigm shift within PAGCOR, the body charged with a unique dual reponsibility as the country's regulator and leading operator, Pisano made the decision to set up a distribution company based on an ethos of transparacy and co-operation.

Jade Gaming has, since its inception, taken giant steps towards becoming a 'one stop shop' for operators seeking to invest in their properties through the latest generation products and services. In this regard Pisano sees AGI and Novomatic as an ideal partner. He noted: "The Novomatic brand, unquestionably by the number one in Europe and also a major driving force in South America, Moreover AGI is backed by tremendous research and development resources, and that means we have the means to be able to 'fin tune' already succesful product streams to our particular local requirements. That is, of course, an ongoing process but since I visited the impressive Novomatic headquarters immediately after the ICE show and met with many of their key people I am even more convinced that Novomatic, through its subsidiary AGI, will achieve a similar level of market penetration not just in the Philippines but also right across Asia.''

Expansion is on Jade's immediate horizon also. With the launch of its subsidiary, Jade Gaming Macau, Pisano's company has signalled most clearly its intention, not to be bound by the geographical boundaries of the Philippines.

In one key respect, Jade Gaming mirrors the approach of duality that is a cornerstone of the Novomatic philisophy. Just as Novomatic is both a manugacturer and an operator, so too Jade Gaming has a twin core business strategy. As well as a distributor Jade is also duly licensed as an operator; running the highly successful Oxford Princess Casino within the former Clark Air Base (now part of the Clark Freeport special economic zone) that is located some 60 kilometres northwest of Metro Manila and which has direct air links to key cities around southeast Asia. As in the case of Novomatic, Jade's strategy of duality offers a depth of insight into operational methods and requirements that back up Jade's approach of 'advice gained from experience' in the distribution role.

Under its new administration PAGCOR (the Philippine Amusement & Gaming Corporation) has pledged a new era of 'transparacy and fair dealing', with key members of the PAGCOR Board of Directors visiting the industry's key trade shows in Las Vegas and London in order to make direct contact with key suppliers and trading partners. The incoming PAGCOR Chairman Cristino L. Naguiat, Jr. was appointed by the Philippine President, Benigno S. Aquino III in July of last yeatr and has pledged to redouble PAGCOR's record of contributions both financially, through gaming taxation and socially, by creating and maintaining employment in key areas of the country.

For Jade Gaming's part, the company is committed to working in close co-operation with PAGCOR to maintain direct and effective two-way links ith the international gaming industry and so help the Philippines to grow through the predicted rise in direct employment and tourisim revenue that a secure gaming industry will bring. Those are aims and ambitions that Novomatic fully shares and, with the new agreements between AGI and Jade now firmly in place, plans to move ahead with a raised profile not just in the Philippines, but throughout south-east Asia.
